Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Myles credits his hometown for helping him develop resilience and focus early in life. “Growing up in Miami prepared me to stay focused on what I want and not get caught up in everyday distractions,” Myles shared. His drive to succeed only grew as he moved to Atlanta and Texas, playing on an Adidas-sponsored team that took him across the nation. Competing against top talent on the Adidas circuit, he faced some of today’s NBA stars—such as Jaylen Brown, Bam Adebayo, Dennis Smith Jr., and De’Aaron Fox—before their rise to fame.
“Seeing the best players up close and competing against them taught me not to fear anyone I step on the court with, no matter their size, skill, or athleticism,” he reflected. This experience shaped his confidence and his style of play, allowing him to impact the game in various ways beyond just scoring. “I’ve learned to use my strengths to get my team into the paint, draw defenders, and play-make,” he added. “Whether it’s mid-range shots, 3-pointers, or driving into the paint, I’m ready to step up.”
Myles went on to develop his skills at North Lakeview College and Highline College, bringing versatility and determination to each step of his journey. His on-court adaptability and resilience make him a strong addition to the WV Jags.
As Myles joins the Jaguars, he is eager to take on new challenges, not only to grow as a player but also to foster camaraderie with his teammates. “I’m looking forward to competing at a high level and continuing to become a better man and basketball player each day,” Myles expressed. “Building a brotherhood here is important to me.”
Myles is also passionate about giving back to the youth in the Willamette Valley, planning to serve as a positive role model and mentor. “I want to inspire and motivate kids, teaching them skills like passing, dribbling, and shooting, as well as strength, conditioning, and IQ,” he shared. Myles recently acquired a shooting machine to help young athletes get as many shots up as possible, while he aims to offer guidance not only on the court but off the court as well.
Owner Marion Clark spoke highly of Myles’ dedication: “I like Myles’ drive to get better. He works every day, and I see the improvement. I am excited to see how he grows and competes in camp.”
With his competitive experience, focus on growth, and commitment to youth mentorship, Myles Potter is ready to make an impact both on and off the court this season. Welcome to the Jaguars, Myles!
