The Willamette Valley Jaguars are thrilled to announce General Drako’s return as the team’s in-game announcer for the upcoming season. A familiar voice to fans, Drako will not only lead the live entertainment but also take on the role of Head of Player Personnel and Outreach. His return marks a new chapter for the team and the community, as his vision extends far beyond the court.
General Drako shared his excitement about his new dual role. “I am honored to be a part of the EC Jags organization. I am excited to join as the new P.A. Announcer because I get to be a part of bringing the community together for family fun and entertainment. I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to contribute to such a worthwhile organization,” Drako said. He expressed eagerness to work with the entire organization and emphasized the importance of creating a unifying experience for fans. “Go Jags!” he added with enthusiasm
Drako’s responsibilities as Head of Player Personnel and Outreach aim to foster a positive environment for player development and community engagement. He envisions his department becoming a leader in player growth and support, working closely with players, coaches, and staff to ensure they have the tools and resources they need for success both on and off the court. His commitment extends to the community, where he hopes to create a diverse and inclusive environment by collaborating with local businesses, non-profit organizations, and community members.
Drako emphasized, “My goals for the department are to ensure that all players have a positive experience and that the department is a leader in player development. I also plan to work with the players to develop their skills and talents and ensure they have the resources they need to succeed on and off the court.” His vision includes establishing a strong connection between the team and the fans, allowing for greater interaction and feedback.
One of the most exciting initiatives Drako is bringing to the EC Jags is a partnership between the team and his radio station, KSOS Radio – Soul of Salem. Together, they will offer internships for kids interested in radio and broadcasting. Reflecting on this idea, Drako shared, “I came up with the idea by reflecting on my childhood experiences. When I was growing up, I yearned for opportunities to learn and grow. I wanted to open doors for today’s youth so they could have a positive influence in their communities.”
These internships will provide invaluable hands-on experience, allowing students to work on pre-game and post-game shows and gain insights into game-day activities. This initiative aligns perfectly with the EC Jags’ mission to build stronger connections within the community, especially with local youth.
Drako believes that the partnership between the EC Jags and KSOS Radio will strengthen the team’s ties with the local community through increased awareness, excitement, and togetherness. “The community at large will have access to news, interviews, and actual broadcasts of the games, keeping them informed and engaged with the team. Additionally, the internship program will give students a unique opportunity to get involved and learn from professionals.”
As the EC Jags prepare for the upcoming season, General Drako’s return as an announcer, along with his efforts in player development and community outreach, promises to bring new energy and lasting impact to the team and the region. His passion for fostering community involvement and player growth is set to take the EC Jags to new heights—on and off the court.
